• Salute to Independence: Every year on July 4^th weekend, SAEMS provides emergency medical services to the Salute to Independence celebration that takes place on the Antietam National Battlefield. Over 20,000 people attend the annual event, which includes a performance by the Maryland Symphony Orchestra followed by a fireworks display. SAEMS utilizes extra personnel, ATV’s and support from other agencies to ensure that all those attending the event are cared for in the event of an emergency.
• JFK 50 Mile Race-A portion of the JFK 50 Mile ultramarathon, held annually on the Saturday before Thanksgiving, passes through the first due area of SAEMS. For this event, SAEMS positions emergency medical at check points along the race route to be able to most effectively reach persons in need of medical attention.
